Yes, it was basically just a vehicle for Will Ferrell to be Will Ferrell. But that's what most of his movies are, so if you're not a Will Ferrell fan, the solution is simple. Don't watch his movies.

He has made better, but overall I still thought it was a very funny movie. I also enjoyed the parody of the old ABA.

The problem with comedy is that it's got to be funny. I didn't laugh once through that crap. Half way through, I ended up just shutting the TV off.  Will, you didn't score a 3-pointer with that one...

I love Will Ferrell comedies but had been told by a friend who also loves his films that Semi-Pro was disappointing. So I went into the movie expecting to be disappointed. While it wasn't one of Ferrell's best comedies, it was still enjoyable. I laughed throughout the movie, but it didn't give as many classic Ferrell moments that he has been known for on SNL, Old School, and Anchorman. Semi-Pro is probably worth a watch for those who love Ferrell and his style of comedy, but I can see why the average movie-goer wasn't thrilled with this effort.
