he has a horrible fielding percentage and is by far overrated in all aspects of the game, there are tons of better shortstops then him... look at his stats compared to alan trammell's and you will see that tram should be in the hall if you're gonna put that guy in.

Started out as a lousy hitter, but improved as time went on to the point that by the mid to late 80's, he was actually a pretty good hitter: albeit one without much pop...stole bases, and fielding wise the very best, though I have seen some terrific fielders at the position, especially Omar Vizquel of the Indians, Mariners, Giants etc., who I think is terrific...Revolutionized defense at his position without a doubt.

Horribly overrated. Used artificial turf to get the sure bounce, then would throw in some unnecessary flash to see himself on the highlights. Weak bat through most of his entire career. A shameful addition to the Hall.

Excellent ball player, but not in top 100

Best defensive shortstop to ever take the field. I believe he has more Gold Gloves tahn anyone in the game. His hitting was weaker early in his career, but he improved it later. He certainly deserves his spot in the hall.

For defense, I give five stars. For offense, I give one star. He and Omar Vizquel are the greatest defensive shortstops of all-time.

The greatest defensive SS of all time.
