'Texas governor' in your background is like the kiss of death these days- after eight years of this debacle... seriously, you'd rather have assistant sphincter cleaner in East Bumf*** Alabama as part of your qualifications.

"Texas fatigue." If McCain has any brains on his staff they'll tell grandpa that the rest of the world has had quite enough of aw-shucks politiks. They should give it a cursory glance before moving on. . .

Strong Bush supporter. Very capable, but probably not a help on the McCain ticket.

Brings nothing to the table.
Texas isn't in play, being solidly in the GOP column, he's an intellectual and political lightweight, and he gives the impression of rampant opportunism.

Governor Rick Perry is not well liked in the state of Texas and his recent outburst telling Huckabee to drop out of the race for the "good of the party" was uncalled for. It's obvious he and George Bush Sr. planned that little event right before the Texas Primary. If there was ever any repect for him, I have none now. If he is on the ticket this General election, you might as well forget my vote.

worst possible choice next to Romney. This man is a back stabber, and will do anything to get ahead. I saw a speech he made in Ca. and he was an embarrassment for Texas. Badmouthed President Bush on youtube and backstabbed Huckabee, his "friend".

As a Texan, I can tell you that Rick Perry is very unpopular in the state. He has sold out to special interests groups and lobbyists; he is ruthless and will do anything for money and advancement of his own career. He is in with the establishment of the party and has been groomed for national office. I did not vote for him as governor; imagine a conservative like me, being so desperate to go for weird ole Kinky. I cannot support a McCain/Perry ticket. Governor Good Hair is a dud!

Perry is generally regarded as a lightweight within the Republican party. He was re-elected in 2006 with only 39% of the vote, so I don't think his political base in Texas would be all that helpful to the GOP ticket. Plus Perry was never a firm backer of McCain, in fact, I think he claimed the other day that he was his 3rd choice to be President. I think McCain would want someone a bit more loyal. Texas is going Republican his year anyways, so he won't bring much to the ticket.

I'm not overly happy with him as my Governor, I don't think I'd care to see him a heartbeat away from the presidency.
