People say "guestimate" when they mean a cross between an estimate and a guess. Or maybe they really mean guess, and estimate sounds more scientific. Either way, it's gotta go. (Add picture)

I just might slap someone or throw a glass of water during a meeting if any one of my co-workers says this horrifying abortion of the language in front of a client.

Is it a guess or an estimate? Well, an estimate usually implies that you might know what you're talking about, ie there are some variables that have been evaluated, some numbers crunched. A guess is something you've pulled from your nether regions. Combining these words gives you all the formal rigor of an estimate, but with an answer you've pulled from thin air.

Clever at first but it just sounds redundant.
