It didn't really define my existence. But I do remember feeling pretty cool and grown up when I got my first card from one of our top local department stores. And really sad when the store was gobbled up by Macy's.

After your first credit card, you suddenly become somebody. If you don't believe me, just go out to your mailbox on a daily basis, and you receive every credit card offer known to mankind.

I was nobody to my bank anyway....
Then after I screwed the pooch a few times I got to be "somebody" to a credit agency for a while.
I felt so "special"
