03/18/2008 | I saw this in the theater about 1954-55, and it was scary to think of all those ants! This is a good yarn and it has run on cable recently.
The plot is that the luscious Eleanor Parker is a mail order bride for Amazon River plantation owner, Charlton Heston. While they are working out their personal problems, the jungle red ants, Marabunta, I believe, erupt and start eating everything in their path.
The ants head for the plantation. Everyone wants to run, but Heston and Parker choose to stand and fight. The contest is knucklebiting for its day. It is the standard soldiers in the fort holding off the Indians genre, but, still, I recommend highly.
