 | oscargamblesfro (82) 03/22/2008 | The Dodgers, in recent seasons, are an awkward combination of promising youngsters that haven't been able to take it to the next level to go with some fading guys like Kent or Garciaparra who would have been great to have at the beginning of the decade but who are near the end of the line. The pitching is solid overall but without a bona fide ace. Andruw Jones will probably rebound from a bad year, they have some good pieces in place like Rafael Furcal, and the team should be decent, but there is dissension between the veterans and the kids, and though new manager Joe Torre is lauded for his people skills, his managing before he was with the Yankees never struck me as particularly brilliant. They could win the NL West, but are more likely to be a team that's over .500, but misses the playoffs and comes in third or fourth in that division.
