The Nats are in a tough division and just don't have the pitching to compete over the whole summer. Hopefully the new ownership well take strides to make them competitive with the Mets, Phillies, and Braves, but right now I only see them competing with the Marlins for 4th in the NL East.

Always a thorn in the side of their stronger division rivals NY and Philly, the Nats will make a push for (perhaps) 80 wins but that's it. . .the new ballpark will create a temporary cash cow and perhaps success will come 2-4 years down the road and they can compete in the NL East. . .but the Nats stadium is the star right now. . .

A new stadium for this team is like pretty Christmas wrapping on a box of turds.

They may be on the road to improvement, but its a long road.

They actually did a little better last year than anybody expected- mind you, they weren't good but hardly what is generally regarded to be the worst ML team ever- the 1899 Cleveland Spiders, who went 20-134. A few quality players such as Zimmerman but not a lot of depth and aside from their closer Chad Cordero a faceless and utterly undistinguished pitching staff. There's some help on the way in the minors and a couple of youngsters who may turn out to be good players, but they'll probably fight it out with the Marlins for worst team in the NL East...
