Tarkin was a jackass, but an effective one. I still liked the Princess Leia line about recognizing his foul stench when she was brought on board. Bonus trivia, she hit him with a water balloon one time when she was a kid...

Nice piece of restrained acting by Peter Cushing that is among the best things in the original movie. A more interesting villain than Vader, in my opinion. Too bad he gets killed off.

The evil "Grandma" Tarkin was played to perfection by Peter Cushing.
