I have watched this movie so many times that it would be foolish for me to try to guess. I missed it in the theater. I was in college and either didn't know better or didn't see it when it came through. I did not get interested in the Zulus until
Washing of the Spears by Donald Morris. The Zulu Nation still survives and is an admirable group to study.
This move shows the Zulu siege of the little garrison at Rorke's Drift. A handful of British soldiers held off 4,000 Zulus for almost two days winning eleven Victoria Crosses, the most ever awarded in one day in the history of the British Army. The movie does justice to the true history of the siege and should be watched.
Michael Caine had his first important role here.
