The iPhone does predictive text with auto-correction astonishingly well. Typing plain English a breeze, as the dictionary quickly learns new words and names you use and adds them with the correct capitalization to the dictionary automatically. The iPhone corrects my lazy tendency to type in all lowercase, knows common txt acronyms out of the box, and has shortcuts for things like periods (double space automatically starts a new sentence). It has gotten to the point where I can't wait for computers to catch up with auto-correction because it's so much faster than checking my own work. (GoogleWave plans to launch with this in the fall).Incidentally, my boyfriend actually defended the iPhone's on-screen keyboard despite former reservations to his friend who works for RIM (Blackberry) on the basis of how fast I'm able to type on it. Some context: my boyfriend generally dislikes Apple and favors of Blackberry and Google devices (well kinda, he still hasn't started using the free G1 they gave him in December a la the eat your own dog food principle).Anyhow all that said, there is ONE thing that's kinda hard to type on the iPhone: URLs. There's no way to fix this problem with predictive anything since urls are a mess of non-language interspersed with periods and slashes. I solve this by using google search prolifically, often including website names in addition to my standard query to find stuff I'm looking for quickly (yet another habit that has trickled over to my computer usage deskside).

It is difficult to write long reviews when using an iPhone.
