Aruthr was one of two players (along with William Gates) who was the subject of the 1994 basketball documentary, Hoop Dreams. Recognized for having a very quick first step, he was ecruited by St. Jospeh's (along with William Gates) he started out with the freshman squad as a ninth grader. He however was forced to leave the school when his family was unable to pay the tution for the school and transferred to John Marshall High School. He led John Marshall on a Cinderella run during the 1991 post season helping his team win the city championship and to the semi-finals of the state tournament. While having a good career he was only recruited by junior colleges (although Arthur struggled with his academics which may have caused some schools not to recruit him) and went to Mineral Area Junior College and going onto Arkansas State.
