Arguably the greatest NBA announcer ever. Had ability to speak at lighting pace to keep up with the action on the floor (as legendary LA Times columnist Jim Murray once wrote about him: "the machine gun that talks like a man"). Also had profound impact on lexicon of game by coining phrases such as "slam dunk", "triple-double" and "traveling". Also came up with his own unique phrases such as when a Lakers had sealed a victory in the game :"this one's in the refrigerator, the door's closed, the lights are out, the butter's getting hard, the eggs are cooling the jello's jiggling!!!") At times had tendency to get overly dramtatic but would provide listener a great account of the game who was objective, if a bad call when in favor of the Lakers, he would tell the listener it was a bad call. Was arguably loved by Laker fans just as much as the players.
