I can't say as this is really necessary since "disagree" just may be considered the "new unhelpful" -- used sometimes to express genuine disagreement and other times used to troll. But I'll have to admit; "disagree" sounds a bit more to the point than "unhelpful" did.

What's the point? Some people are going to crawl into a fetal position if the button is unhelpful, hot tranny mess, dirty pirate hooker, bad mommy, a pterodactyl in a gay Jurassic Park. , etc.

I'm more worried about the high gas prices then some button abuse on an entertainment site.

I agree with Automatt. Don't bring back the "Unhelpful" button--replace the "Funny" button with a "Disagree" button. This assumes (and I don't know the answer) that for technical reasons RIA can't have more than three buttons. If RIA's technology does allow more than three buttons, add a fourth button: "Disagree." If it were still around, I'd give this item an "Unhelpful".

I'd prefer to see a "disagree" button rather than "unhelpful".  Unhelpful seems a little too open to abuse, but disagree might work.

To me, this is the RIA equivalent of eighteenth century theologians arguing how many angels can dance on the head of a pin. 

Ultimately, does it really matter? 

Personally, I like to write reviews, I like to get a response, be it helpful, unhelpful, funny, agree, a comment on the review, a personal message etc.  It doesn't matter a whole lot to me whether the response is negative or positive, but its nice to know someone paid attention, even if it was just to express how much they hate me.  

After all, I'd hate to think I was boring anyone.

As for "Unhelpful", why stop there?  Lets add a whole menu of choices, such as:

Brilliant, Pig-ignorant, Cynical, Short-sighted, Pragmatic, Foolish, Whimsical, Behaviourist, Hedonist, Freudian, Prophetic, Disneyesque, Draconian, Cowardly, Fanatical, Dispensationalist, Self-Absorbed, Materialist..............

Its not necessary, but I enjoyed the unhelpful button. Hurt feelings isn't a good reason for eliminating it. I don't click a button for most reviews, but when something really moves me to show my support or displeasure, I would like a simple way to show that.

Taking it away was kind of like a school not keeping score of kids' games because some kids had to lose and it might ruin their self-esteem! I say bring it back so I can try to beat my record for unhelpfuls in 1 post.

I don't miss that much. What I miss is the "rate it' button.

I'm numbah16tdhaha and I support this message. Quit beating the funny button up on the unfunny. Lets bring back the "un" and be brutal again... 

UPDATE: After reading git's review I believe we should have a contest for the new name of our old friend the unhelpful button.

You might as well, it has been replaced with the funny button.

I agree with numbah on this one.  Unhelpful is certainly better than funny, and I personally think disagree is even better than that.  I think it's plain ridiculous for people to abuse the funny button the way they have been, just because they don't like the reviewer or what they are reviewing.
