Anybody that would do this needs to face prosecution. There are plenty of animal shelters that a person can drop the animal off at.

I saw a video one time, which depicted a family moving from their house, and the song being played was from the point of view of the family cat, who believed the owners would be back for him. It ended with the moving van pulling away for the final time, and the poor animal was sitting alone in the empty house. It's chilling just to think of it. I just don't understand how people could be so neglectful. Not amusing in the slightest, but very baffling.

Doesn't surprise me either considering that this has become disposible society. Not nearly as bad as leaving the kids. At the very least, we can at least be glad that they didn't drown, shoot or otherwise kill the poor animal.

Alot of people have left pets behind in the rash of forclosures of late. It sucks...

Neither amuses or surprises me. What else should be expect from a society that has taught people that selfish irresponsibility is a virtue.

this upsets me a lot. we see dogs and especially cats who have been left behind. we also have a large park near us and although I have not seen it to prove, I know that people drop off unwanted pets there. it sickens me. I cannot bear to see animals left out to fend for themselves. i wish i could take in cats and dogs and give them home just don't have the room or money. I have placed found ads for cats that show up in our neighborhood and clearly do not live around here. we need stronger punishments for those who abandon animals.

Doesn't amuse me as much as makes me scratch my head and wonder about the conditions that led to this. There are a few pet owners who are clearly not up to the responsibility.

This happens everyday but from time to time we continue to be reminded. A client was in last week talking about the lab her daughter had just adopted from a rescue group. The dog had been left chained in the back yard with no food or water when the owners had moved. Fortunatly the neighbors stepped in and cared for the dog and then when they realized that the people werent coming back...called the authorities. Now the dog has a great new home. There are great and caring neighbors out there still!
