A career defining performance by Steve McQueen that almost makes you forget the depth of the cast including James Garner, James Coburn, Charles Bronson, Richard Attenborough, Donald Pleasance, the blonde guy from Man FromUNCLE and a bunch of nasty German guys.

A very fine cast turn in solid to very good performances in a movie that retains its power to intrigue despite the fact there can't be a movie goer over 30 who doesn't know what happens in it.
