"Rather than begging Arab oil sheiks to produce more oil, America should produce our own oil to send a signal that we are willing to increase our supplies and drive down prices," said Sen. Lisa Murkowski, (R-AK). Sorry Lisa the left wing wackos like paying 123 dollars per barrel for their oil. I urge all of you to contact your Senator and implore them to support The American Energy Production Act S-2284 and S-2958. It is time to do something about these oil prices!

I find it odd how gas was an average 1.49 per gallon in Jan of 2001 when W. took office. The price only went up to 2.33 in the next 6 years. Then in Jan. of 2007, when Pelosi and the Dems took over the House and Senate, the price skyrocketed over 50% in 15 months. Is that a coincidence? A little acronym called ANWR would work nicely. You put a gag order on RFK Jr. and the Sierra Club and we begin tapping into our own (plentiful) resources! There would be an estimated 250,000 to 735,000 jobs created in ANWR. Royalty and Tax revenues for the life of ANWR would be between 150-230 billion dollars. Those in Congress who vote against ANWR, like they have done for the last 20 years, get voted out ASAP. You then begin to build 6 to 12 new refineries. Once these things take place our so called allies, the Saudies, begin to all but beg us to buy their oil and prices plummet!

ANWR drilling was approved by the House and Senate in 1995 and Clinton vetoed it!

I'd say, go discover a new form of energy.

I agree with Louie to a point. We do have enough reserves to be self sufficient for decades to come. But then, why should we use ours when we can use theirs. Let them exhaust their reserves first and then see who is better of. Reducing our imports from Opec would not reduce the price. The demand is well beyond the offer, and if Opec loses us, they will find other markets to sell their oil and will not be affected by our withdrawal. What I would suggest is to initiate a campaign of national pride and institute a weekly oil free day, when no Americans would buy a single gallon of gas. By reducing the demand, the price would definitely go down. There are many problems we can fix if there were a little more pride and consensus among Americans.
