 | trebon1038 (62) 04/23/2008 | I only use the funny button for reviews I find funny. Everyone is aware of its misuse and personally when I see a funny vote on a serious subject I wrote...so what. I have survived trolls in the past and will again...however, I know there are a couple of nice people on this site who's feelings have been hurt by the funny votes on serious subjects. That bothers me a little because their feelings should be taken into consideration. With the comment feature I can disagree with someone if I feel they are needing to explain their point better....honestly most I disagree with, I ignore.

 | numbah16tdhaha (149) 04/22/2008 | Only good reason and that's where most of mine come from.
UPDATE: I would dare say that my rep as being genuinely funny has by and large insulated me from this "funny abuse" problem that we seem to be having. I have in effect not really left people a good option when they dislike a post since I WANT funny votes, and maybe that's the funniest thing of all. Feel free to hit that comment section, kids. It looks like that's your only option if you're pissed at me and even that hasn't proven to be an effective tool since it allows for the legendary numbah counter comments...

 | edt4 (100) 04/22/2008 | If it's funny, intentionally or otherwise, I'll hit it. Even when there was an "unhelpful" button, I seldom pushed it. If someone had a differing point of view, but presented their "evidence" and opinions in a semi-plausible way that didn't sound as if they were coming straight from the Republican playbook, I'd mark them as "helpful". Sometimes, of course, those with a differing opinion from mine differ in such an extreme and flamboyant fashion that I can't help but laugh, and hit the button.

 | twansalem (38) 04/22/2008 | If I do leave a funny vote, this is the reason. But due to it now being the new "unhelpful," I tend not to use the funny button unless it is obvious that the review was intentionally funny.

 | HistoryFan (97) 04/22/2008 | Isn't that the sole reason as to why it's there in the first place?

 | oscargamblesfro (78) 04/21/2008 | The best reason is if something actually is funny, and there are some people here who are very funny indeed. Others have no sense of humor ...If something is absurdly ignorant, unintentionally hilarious, foolishly cruel, hopelessly naive, or just out there it merits a funny too...

 | fitman (39) 04/21/2008 | If the review is meant to be humorous AND tickles my funny bone, I hit the FUNNY button.
If the review is so absurd it makes me laugh, I hit the FUNNY button UNLESS it's really sad, in which case I hit no button 'cause SAD isn't an option.
I get lots of FUNNY votes for my serious reviews. Big deal!
Note: Those who wish to give me more FUNNYs are cordially invited to rate all my reviews:

 | irishgit (142) 04/21/2008 | Best reason, whether intentionally funny or not. My rule of thumb is if it makes me laugh, I click funny.
Further, I don't regard it as a "derogatory" rating. It's usually evident when the reviewer is intending humor, and when they are not. Clicking "funny" on an unintentionally funny review isn't derogatory, its the RIA equivalent of diminishing an argument during debate.
In my opinion, there are some folks on here who take their own opinions way too seriously.
All of us, at some time or another, are horses asses, with horses asses opinions. Its up to the rest of the world to point it out to us.

 | Molfan (58) 04/21/2008 | the biggest reason I would give a funny. when I found the comment was really amusing. there are some reviewers on here who have a good sense of humor got to give them a funny when they make me laugh.

 | Automatt (33) 04/21/2008 | Funny ha-ha or funny strange? That's the real question.

 | lmorovan (14) 04/21/2008 | Unfortunately, there is no way to say whether you find the review funny or you disagree with it. Many times I refuse to rate a review funny even as it is, because it is considered to be a derogatory rating. So, I leave many reviews unrated, which, of course, works against the very nature of this site (Rate It All).
