 | trebon1038 (62) 04/23/2008 | I know some of my "serious" reviews (and there aren't really that many...I come here to get "unserious") have been marked unhelpful or funny....but when they are, I just figure they don't need to agree with me....and if they think its funny, more power to them. I guess it would bother me more if I said something really funny (not sure that happens much either...I am very sarcastic) if some people took those comments TOO seriously.

 | MissPackRat4Jesus (38) 04/22/2008 | There is a time for lightheartedness and a time to be completely serious. "Funny" marks do not belong on the latter.

Its the internet. There are trolls here. There are also people with strong opinions, who may not agree with you. There are people with highly developed senses of irony and satire.
All of those people, for one reason or another, might mark "funny."
Frankly, there is an undercurrent in many of these reviews that suggests the real issue for some people is not "funny" votes, but getting any kind of negative feedback. I certainly recall some of the same people complaining about this also complaining about the "unhelpful" button.
Sorry folks, but I don't have much sympathy. Its an opinion site, and if you can't stand the heat, get your head out of the furnace.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 04/22/2008 | Cry of the professional victim. . .if it's funny for whatever philosophical reason, it's funny- people just can't wrap their little heads around the idea that there are (gasp!) people who feel differently about opinions. . .on an opinion site. . .f#cking hilarious. . .

 | TeresaG (29) 04/22/2008 | I will have to agree with Imorovan on this one. This is where the agree and disagree buttons SHOULD come in. If someone is trying to make a point in a serious discussion, how frustrating is it to have someone think it is "Funny"? It makes a joke of peoples' belief system ~ no matter what their beliefs are. I really don't like this button, and if I disagree, I would rather write why and I WILL put helpful, because someone is obviously throwing their beliefs out there (even if I don't believe the same). Everyones' views, to me, are helpful ~ if I agree, I put agree ~ if it is something I know nothing about or respect others thoughts, I put helpful ~ if it is funny, I put funny. I don't believe in mocking others by using the funny button for their thoughts and beliefs.

 | twansalem (36) 04/22/2008 | This is definitely not a good reason, but I get the feeling that it happens occasionally.

 | lmorovan (12) 04/22/2008 | When you are serious about expressing an opinion and review a topic, and receive a funny vote, it usually raises the question of whether is worth being serious or not.
