New Yawkers don't have much to bitch about concerning a 'history of losing'. . .the major sports are represented and have had their respective heydays. . .factor in the East-coast media machine (that always overrates NY pros) and you have a group of fans that don't have much to bitch about. . .but they will anyways. . .

The NHL Islanders won 4 straight cups back in the seventies, the Devils have been recent champions and the Rangers broke a 40 year slump of being cupless back in the '90s.

The Jets had a championship and whole lot of mediocre years with a few whispers of promise thrown in, and the Giants were very strong in the fifties and sixties and again in the more recent past.

The Dodgers of the forties and fifties were one of the great powers of the National League, the Giants were arguably the best overall team of the first quarter of the 20th century, and were strong again in the fifties, and the Yankee's haven't had a long period of being consistently bad since 1920. The Mets have been laughably bad and very good, but have managed a couple of titles since their creation.

The Knicks and the Nets are sort of the odd men out here, although the Knicks were a respectable power about 30 years ago.

Can't see anything at all for a New York fan to be upset about.

You would think that the Knicks would have a greater legacy than they do ( aside from the early 70's teams) playing in what is by far the biggest city in America... The Nets have, with some exceptions, usually sucked since joining the NBA...The Jets, overall, have been nothing special since the famous Namath prediction, the Giants have won titles. The Dodgers were usually bad until the 40's, The baseball Giants were the NL's most successful team of , say, the first third of the 20th century. The Yankees were usually mediocre to bad prior to 1920, of course, since then, they've seldom been bad for very long. The Mets have been all over the map, but more bad than good overall... They've had some fine hockey clubs.

Now that they finally canned Isiah, maybe the Knicks will eventually start contributing something to New York sports again.
