As a bit of a moderate in some areas, I can appreciate the flexibility of thought presented by them as opposed to the rigid thinking encountered from most extremists of both ilks. That flexibility is seen as "unpredictable and unreliable" only by those who do not understand it. No, we moderates don't usually have our minds instantly made up. We do consider a lot more information before doing so, and I don't see that as a bad thing. And as numbah said before me, a little compromise is a healthy thing, otherwise we end up fighting over everything and getting nothing done.

I wish I had some kind of story about this... *whistles and looks around*

UPDATE: I think that compromise is perhaps a lost art and those critical of it might consider the money and blood a compromise or two can save. I also think a moderate has as strong a position on a given issue as any extemist, and the difference often with the moderate is that their goals are often easier to obtain because they set the bar at a realistic level.

Depending on the issues presented, moderates may look confused or incapable to make up their minds. They stay in the middle, not taking any stand in fear of rejection or repercussions. I could hardly trust a moderate because they are so unpredictables and unreliable. They swing their opinions as the breeze changes. Extremists at least take a position and a stand, whichever the side they are inclined to be, and you know how to approach them.
