Comparing the actual practice of the Nazi's to any kind of modern religion or religious belief only means their propoganda must have worked. The Nazi's used religion as a prop for their agenda, much the same way the socialist left in America today uses... Well, pretty much anything that does them any good at the time.

"Atheistic and anti-religious"? Hello? Anyone home? The Nazis glorified Nordic pagan rituals (fulfills pre-Christian part of the bill) and were Christian both in and outside of Germany. (We could make a separate list of Catholic-dominated Nazi territories at the height of influence.) The Nazis are people's exhibit A of the worst that religion has to offer humanity pre or post Christianity. Want to know how many Nazi leaders were chastised and excommunicated from the Catholic church? One. Joseph Goebbels. After all, religion has its standards. . .he wanted to marry a Protestant. Nazis belong on a list of religious atrocities- not one for atheists. I can't believe someone would look at the evidence and think otherwise.

The best book on the subject is 'Why The Jews' by Dennis Prager and Rabbi Joseph Telushkin;it was reprinted in the last few years because of the increase in Islamic based antisemitism/violence against Jews in France.It certainly does not equate Christianity with Nazism.

The Nazi philosophy--if you can call it that--was based on weeding out the weak to build the master race. This is;a terrifying concept to me, because not only did they want to eliminate the Jews, they also sought to eliminate the truly vulnerable, like the mentally ill. The German people were suckered into this concept by the promise of a strong economy. Were the German people ignorant of the concentration camps and the murders of innocent people? I am not sure, although my dad, who is a World War II vet, states that the German people did not learn about his until the war was over.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and state that Hitler was a religion. He even used Christian imagery in addition to older German pagan symbols to reinforce his godlike image.

UPDATE: So, I've got people who are aching for a debate and I go out and make a hell of a point and... *crickets chirp* nobody says a thing in opposition. Curious...
