07/02/2008 | Not as tragic as the other items on this list but it's still terrible and I'm not going to downplay it. This was when the French tried to distance themselves from the 1st Estate or royalty and the "higher up" clergy (not the village priests which helped make up the 3rd Estate).

07/01/2008 | Strange. France was a Christian country that (for centuries) the monarchy along with the church collaborated to consolidate power. So this listing wants to comment on the thousands killed during the (ugly) French Revolution and chalk it up to some atheist and humanist movement- there is some element to this, but the monarchy and the church collaborated and created the problem in the first place.
