 | pikachan (0) 02/27/2002 | I like Minnie Mouse how she has been Mickey's girlfriend. She has not been in as many cartoons as mickey did.

 | CastleBee (92) 05/18/2001 | Certainly agree with others on the Minnie Mouse issue; not enough character development going on here to even say what she was about. My question is, was this conscious or subconscious on the parts of the animators? I think probably both. Either way, traditional treatment of female cartoon characters does seem to speak volumes as to the expected role and function of women of an earlier era. They tend to be either sexy or silent. But then again, what was expected or desired usually had very little to do with what was actually taking place; women weren't any less creative, intelligent or interesting at the time. In fact, all those repressive attitudes really did was create a temporary and extremely annoying barrier. Funny thing though, in the cartoon world, males still rule as the most loveable, humorous and well known. And, though we see Minnie around more than say in the 1960's, her personality is still pretty much an enigma.

 | swenocha (0) 05/18/2001 | The female characters are the least defined of the Big 7, but she's still been around forever, so that means something...

 | Frank15 (0) 05/14/2001 | Well... what can I say? Minnie has got NO personality whatsoever! Just Mickey's mindless girlfriend... I suppose Mickey though, being the most famous cartoon character in the world (for some odd reason) likes having someone to just love him no matter what, no questions asked.
