I often find myself feeling this way after watching these super hero movies. I see the ads for the film and am not interested at all, and then end up watching the movie a year or two later and absolutely love it. Its probably because I don't have a history reading comics, and just don't get geeked up for them like so many people seem to do. However, lots of them just seem to be really well made lately. Iron Man was just a very solid movie. I liked how it seemed very contemporary with the Afghanistan angle in the plotline. I'm not exactly sure when the Iron Man comics were written, but I'm pretty sure it got started before this whole war on terror business. Robert Downey Jr. did a very good job with the intelligent, snooty Tony Starks character. With this film and Tropic Thunder, he proved in 2008 that good characters don't need stuck up films in order to show off their acting skill. Both of those seem like really good career moves for him. I also liked The Dude...I mean Jeff Bridges as the villain. He did a great job with that character, and he just seems like the type of slimy character that would be an executive at a large, scummy company. I know I'm a little late to the party when it comes to seeing this movie, but I can understand what all the excitement and praise for it were about.
