I recollect now that I have seen this flick, and it is tolerable to eyeball when you and your buddy, John Barleycorn, sit down to watch the cinema.

It wasn't exactly made as a comedy, but if you can't watch this movie now and crack up a few times then I think your idea of comedy is flawed. In between the cheesiness that permeates Roadhouse are a few good bar scenes. This definitely isn't a movie I'd set aside time for to watch, but its a decent option when its on TV and your other options are limited.

No disrespect to the deceased, but this flick was DISMAL.The ONLY good thing about it was the performances by Jeff Healy, also unfortunately deceased, who was a blazing blues guitarist from Canada.

Top notch, A+ example of Elvis School of Film Making & Acting final project material. Put upon hero complete with shoulder chip the size of his hair, lots of scuffles involving dance moves and righteous anger, tight pants (well, it wasn't ALL bad I suppose) and enough testosterone to populate the U.S.S. Enterprise. I'll concede that it probably had entertainment value. Just not for me.

To me it seems like a remake of Walking Tall, set in a bar. Lots of violence, and some good fight scenes, interspersed by too many moments of introspective mawkishness.

This is a guys movie. Women, bars, booze, pick up trucks and lots of good raw fighting. Who needs a real plot. Swayze delivered. It was pure cheesy entertainment!

Roadhouse is classic Swayze. James Dalton was new agey, yet a rough and tough roadhouse bouncer. He was a fearsome fighter, yet only weighed about 155 pounds. He was the over the top, caricatured hero to battle his small town's over the top, caricatured bad guys. And beneath the rough exterior, like most Swayze characters, Dalton had a heart of gold.Swayze's intensity in ridiculous movies was comical, but because of it, I always felt like I was getting my money's worth, and was always certain that Patrick Swayze showed up for work.

It could have been better.

This was Swayze falling down a few more rungs of the ladder. I like campy, i like witty, i like intelligent, I like action, yes even romance. This movie attempted all of these...and failed miserably. It had a weak plot, poor lines, and sad acting. I did watch it all though. And at the end I was asking myself 'what the hell was that all about?'
