The American mortgage industry is struggling right now, and could use some of the capital coming from the Federal Rebate. I'm a responsible home-owner and would love to pay off some of the principal on my mortgage. However, I am better off sticking to the 6% rate I have on my home and paying off my credit card with its high interest.
