Software as a Service (SaaS) 5

Magellan -

Agreed. Not only is it shareable, it's also accessable from anywhere. The "early adopters" have already set up their businesses so they can access any/all of the information they need with a laptop + internet ... or even an iPhone. Once the mobile devices improve, we'll have astounding access to information, on the go.

That's one thing consultants like about our product: They can access their marketing strategy and marketing tools online, with only an internet connection, to help their clients build and execute marketing strategies.

Software as a Service (SaaS) 5

In case you haven't noticed, everything is going online.  Music, video, TV, Movies, and yes, software.  Sometime during the last few months I went from being a heavy user of MS Word / Excel, to being a heavy user of Google Docs and Spreadsheets.  Instead of hosting my word processing and spreadsheets on a locally stored file, available only to me, I am now hosting most of my word processing and spreadsheets on a Google server, available to anyone who I decide to give access to.  Why?  Because docs are better when shared, and if everyone who is working on a project has access to a file, you never have to worry about versions being out of date.

I am slowly starting to figure out that YOU SHOULD NOT BET AGAINST THE INTERNET.  CD's are archaic.  DVDs are a relic of a bygone era.  And at some point, Microsoft Word / Excel will go the same way.  Stuff is better when it's shareable, and nothing facilitates sharing like the Internet.

If you're interested in this transformation of the software industry, I'd recommend Nick Carr's "The Big Switch."
