Not sure if this works or not. i always thought they'd smell me first (since I don't know how to stay downwind).

Hmm... I don't think I'd ever use these. Of course, that means I am now destined to be mauled...

These are sold where I live by the carton to campers and hikers. The theory is that strapping one to your pack or belt will make a constant noise, and bears will avoid you. Unfortunately, this only works for black bears. Grizzly's think its a dinner bell.
