Well I've never shot a fish with a shotgun, but I did shoot a 4 pound channel cat with a .22 when I was a kid. I was just shooting at a piece of styrofoam floating on dad's pond. It turns out that styrofoam was being used to float a line that someone had put out there (without Dad's permission). I missed the foam, but hit the fish. Dad and I decided the fish was ours.

Highly effective, if you saw off the stock and barrel, load it with double-aught, and rob the local fishmarket.
