Knoxville and area has a lot of great summer concerts...some with big names and some with local acts. All are pretty fun

. . .died in the 90's which means it was probably on life-support for a few years. Summer concerts were great until you got treated like a criminal for being at one. Cops in parking lots that controlled drinking, getting frisked before going inside and putting away jewlery that could 'be a weapon' (really) and ever-increasing ticket prices for shorter shows. . .in college, I fell in love with the club/bar rock scene and swore off big concerts forever. It is a loss, but I fell much less like a sucker. . .

There are several summer concerts and festivals in my town, notably a blues and roots festival in early August that always features some excellent players, and is held in one of the prettier parks in the city.

My concert plans for this summer already include Josh Turner/Jo Dee Messina, Ricky Skaggs, and the Grand Ole Opry.

Summer Festival Season is great. Nothing better than sitting and enjoying music on the grass, or the mushrooms if you so choose.
