 | jaywilton (27) 05/16/2008 | The biggest robbery in Academy Award history was Paul Newman getting the best actor award for 'The Color of Money' in '86-I guess somebody thought he deserved it for 'The Hustler';Dexter Gordon kicked his tuchas for his role as expatriate/alcoholic tenor sax player Dale Turner in 'Round Midnight'.The story is largely based on the late Francis Paudras's autobiographical 'Dance of The Infidels' about the late, great ,troubled jazz pianist Bud Powell's life in Paris.Like Powell,Gordon also spent a lot of years in Europe and played with Powell in Paris.I saw him in the late seventies when he returned to the US;even if you're not a jazz fan, check out the movie-and for something with a little zip to it-'Cheese Cake' from his 'Go' cd.
