Got in his own way sometimes

Until he hurt his arm, brawling with the Yankees, Lee was an excellent pitcher, with a decent fastball and a range of junk that complimented one of the smarter "hitter bookkeeper" pitchers of his era.

Lee is renowned, of course, as "the Spaceman" for his supposedly eclectic views on baseball and the cosmos. In fact, his views are only eclectic when compared to traditional baseball normalcy. As Lee himself said, "In baseball, you're supposed to sit on your ass and nod at stupid things."
