Jindal is the odds-on favorite right now primarily because he extends an olive branch to the conservatives, brings an impressive list of accomplishments to the job and offsets McCain's age which will be a problem for many independents, if it is not countered by a young and/or young-acting VP candidate. He is not, as many suggest, too young. Too young would be 34.
I also believe that the "party unity, my ass" movement will have a dramatic impact on the democrat convention, little more than a month away, and on the general election. I hope this isn't the first you've heard of it. But the liberal alphabet soup media is doing it's best PUMA? What PUMA? dance. What a fascinating election year.

Well, McCain could use a younger candidate (but not too young) and Jindal is a rising star in this party, but there are those who claim that Jindal isn't quite ready and (although no one wants to say it) there is a bloc in the republican faction who simply won't like him because he's not lily-white.

Not that he wouldn't be a good choice, just not yet. It's an interesting idea, though.

Jindal is very young, only 36 years old, but he has already built up an impressive public policy resume. He started out his service in the Bush administration, then in 2003 he went to Congress, and since 2007 has been the governor of Louisiana, where he is mounting a record as a reformer in a state with a long history of corruption. He is definitely one of the party's few rising stars and he would not be a bad pick for McCain.

He's supposed to be smart and honest, and even better for the GOP, a minority who has sound conservative credentials. However, I'm not sure he's ready to be president yet. And given McCain's age, that will probably be the standard any VP candidate is held to.

It would be a very interesting choice, but one I don't really see happening.
Jindal is young and smart with a pretty fair set of credentials and a lot of interest from the social conservatives. He is very young, however, only 36, and his Indo-American ethnicity might not be attractive to some traditional voters, while not doing much to offset an Obama candidacy among blacks.
This guy is clearly a rising star, however, and I think we'll be hearing from him for a while.

Theres been rumors that McCain is leaning towards Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. McCain still has unfinished business with the base of the Republican Party, Jindal posesses impeccable conservative credentials and that will help smooth things over. Mr. Jindal is also young...VERY YOUNG, however, he already has a stack of accomplishments. I think his most important asset is his brain. The fact that he's a minority is a plus as well.
