A strong Pennsylvanian can always help in the Mid-Atlantic region. Can prostitute the whole I-was-in-Homeland-Security-thing-so-trust-me-with-your-civil-liberties-thing that makes some voters feel safe for some reason. Not a bad choice at all except that (as the other voter said) the Dems. will club Ridge as another dubya clone- and for good reason. Still, Ridge is worth a look.

This would not be a bad choice, as Ridge is strong enough to put Pennsylvania into play, but some conservatives will question his bonafides since he is not exactly in tune with them ideologically on everything. For this reason, McCain will likely stay away, since I believe he will pick someone who can shore up his right wing base. But he would not be a bad pick for the job, minus political considerations. He was a Vietnam vet, former Governor and the first head of Homeland Security.

I would put this guy high up on the list. Pennsylvania, at least in May, 2008, looks crucial. His problem is Bush Baggage.
