The stand-up comedians would have a field day with this guy, a bit like they did with Perot's running mate, James Stockdale. So there's at least one strong constituency behind Gramm. And I think it would be hilarious to see "SUCK IT UP, AMERICA" as a motto competing with "YES WE CAN." Forget the pretensions of compassionate conservatism -- this guy at least says what the conservatives are really thinking.

Highly doubtful, what is this guy- 137 years old now? Another figure for whom the ship sailed years ago. The fact that his speaking voice sounds something like Dr. Phil on downers wouldn't exactly help either.
