If Greatgrandpa McCain's plan was to blatantly pander to women when naming a running mate, he should have gone with Hutchinson rather than the piece of trailer park white trash he ended up with. At least Hutchinson has experience and has governed a much larger constituency than the former mayor of Walrusfart, Alaska, who's had only 20 months at the helm of The Moocher State. The more you hear about Sarah Palin and the recent behind the scenes action in the McCain campaign, the more obvious it is that the selection of the former Miss Mooseturd was a hasty, impulsive, and ill-considered kneejerk reaction on the part of Braindead Johnny. Now, the latest reports of her husband's DUI arrest years back, and the citation either he or she received for fishing without a license, despite the fact that as commercial fishermen they should have known better, in addition, the reality that they eloped at marriage time and later had a drunken state trooper brother-in-law they tried to have fired, is making these folks look like rejects from the late lamented Jerry Springer Show. Hutchinson would have been a solid and sound choice, but, just consider her passover as just one misstep in a campaign that's now guaranteed to be a disaster.

She will not get the nod in spite of some impressive credentials, not the least of which is an "aw shucks" republicanism that this country needs. But the McCain machinery knows it can make no missteps (unlike the Obama campaign which makes major gaffes daily) in order to squeak out a narrow victory.
Senator Hutchinson has consistently supported conservative principles which, in certain places other than bastions of left wing hatred and rancor, is appreciated and actually admired by many. But, I don't see McCain participating in the "gimmick candidate" game, unlike the democrats, and he'll go with someone who can likely deliver the electoral delegates of a large "swing" state like Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio or Florida, if he can find such a person.

On paper, one of the most underrated names to make the short list. She's an aw-shucks Texas republican who is on the wrong side of almost ever domestic issue I can think of- and she'll make repubs. hearts swoon with her almost lock-step voting record with the present administration. She's the classic solid-on-paper choice but for a few negatives: (1) McCain doesn't need her for Texas. (2) Oh-shite-more-redneck-Texas fatigue- like it or not, the rest of the planet (including some republicans) need a breather from the brand of republicanism that Texas politicians strangely think everyone needs. and (3) As a woman, McCain doesn't want to be seen as picking a woman merely to placate some anti-Hillary matter or appease something in his own party. On issues and values- she's should be on the short list- but I don't see her getting the nod.
