Lisa Fernandes Shares Her Thoughts on Bloggers Doing much to dispel her reputation as a pugnacious uber-bitch in search of a simple congratulations, Top Chef's Lisa Fernandes tells the The New York Daily News that "No matter what the blogs say about me not taking into consideration about what the judges tell me, or that I don't respond well to criticism, that's not true." Point taken. In fact, Lisa responds to criticism so well that she also says this: Oh no, I don't read the blogs - you couldn't pay me to read the blogs. I don't want to know what people who can't even afford to eat in my restaurant, let alone know how to cook have to say about me, and the few comments I did read on Eater.com a few weeks back because my job asked me to read 'em. The best they could come up with was that I was ugly. Lisa claims that she responds well to criticism than she says that you cant pay me to read the blogs. If thats the best that she could come up with, I feel sorry for her. Miz Crabapple didn't win anyone over with her cooking (half-ass cooked shrimp) or throwing Andrew under the bus. Besides who wants to eat over-price, crappy food?

I've been reading some of the "Top Chef" blogs lately and a great deal of hostility is being generated by this lady. I've always enjoyed "Top Chef" because it seems to be less about reality-TV melodrama and shtick and more about actual cooking skill and talent. Tony Bourdain has said that Dale was sacked not because the producers felt that there would be continuing drama with Lisa on-board but because the "butterscotch scallops" sucked, and despite Dale's past achievements, and his obvious talent, each contestant is based on the here-and-now dish, regardless of what they've done in the past. Makes sense, I suppose. Lisa is unlikeable (whether intentionally or because that's just the way she is...who knows? or cares?) for sure, and a back-stabbing schemer, and inexplicably contemptuous about everyone and everything, and...bottom line...doesn't appear to be a cook of any appreciable talent or ability, but it makes for interesting TV, right?
