 | edt4 (116) 05/16/2008 | Spanish horror film from 1973 by Armando de Ossorio about a group of evil 13th century knights who return from the dead at night and hunt down those hapless living humans unfortunate enough to stumble into their lair. The knights are basically re-animated skeletons clothed in decaying robes and desiccated shreds of flesh. There's not much resembling a plot, and the "human" characters are thoroughly unrealistic, sexist stereotypes, but the film succeeds well in the atmosphere department. Besides the gorgeous scenery, the Knights are some of the more nightmarish figures to ever creep across a movie or TV screen. In some ways, it remains a very unsettling horror film that's definitely worth a look if you can come to terms with some of its more tawdry and idiotic elements.
