I saw some kid on the street corner in Concord wearing an Obama sticker and passing out leaflets. He asked me if I wanted change. I told him I already had a whole bunch of quarters and dimes.

I really don't like Obama's vague message of change. Granted, most politicians are quite vague about what they want to accomplish, but I would give them four or five stars for their empty campaign messages as well.

Well, I agree with that statement but I would add, the same can be said of almost every other politician. A bunch of double talking, double dealing bunch of snakes. he's just another typical politician.

I hate to say it, but being an American myself, I have noticed that typical Americans are too stupid to understand complex campaign messages. One-word campaign slogans seem more effective. Attention USA: CURE YOUR OWN STUPIDITY! Quit watching reality programing, MTV, NASCAR, etc. Read a book, newspaper, SOMETHING! Invest in your public schools. When we as a nation get more intelligent, we can have more sophisticated political campaigns.

Of course he can't. He himself has no idea what he is talking about. One thing is to be brainwashing the masses and another to actually sit on the hot chair and see the truth. "Change" is what people want to hear, and good politicians, as good evangelists, tell people what they want to hear. The only thing that will actually change will be the speech writers who will have to come up with fancy and convincing ways of explaining the ripped off masses why change cannot be done yet.

I disagree with the entire rationale for this listing X 10. Merely by electing him, our standing in the world will improve dramatically. When Obama talks about change, he talks about it coming from the ground up. It's not just what he will do, but what We are willing to do in what should be a participatory democracy. This is the exact opposite of the message given by the current administration in which no one other than members of the military and their families have been asked to sacrifice. The only expectations from Bush has been that we continue to shop and stay scared sh#*less while enjoying the first-ever tax cut during wartime. I'm sure that more specifics will be forthcoming from Obama. Meanwhile, don't miss the Big Picture. Obama himself is the embodiment of change, and given the sad record of the Bush years, the change that he embodies will assuredly be change for the better.

On the other hand, McCain is threatening to give us "THE CHANGE YOU DESERVE".

(Though she's extremely annoying, there's no doubt in my mind that Hillary's the only qualified candidate in this election.)

UPDATE:

Now that Hillary's been eliminated from the competition, we're left to chose the candidate we believe to be the less evil of the two lessers.

Obama's obviously not going to change much, but he's not a flaming radical neoCON, so he gets my reluctant vote.

Everyone wants change: poor wants to get rich, rich wants to pay less taxes, homosexual want their marriages to be legalized, conservatives wnat the homosexual marriages to be outlawed, illegal immigrants want legalization their rights, and opening the boirders, etc. How can you make everybody happy? Simple, say to all of them: "Yes, my friends, I know, with republicans you are not happy, when I will be a president, that will change!!!"
Populist slogans are making people happy, but there is nothing under these promises.

Not even his so-called allies can explain it. When Edwards endorsed this guy, he basically said that "We DO need change. We need to tear down the current structure and see what happens..." :o This doesn't work for me. If by change in the current war-time agenda...who's this guy going to turn to? He has no experience with the military. He has little-to-no international experience. He's a frickin' Junior Senator! He is unqualified to be President...

Update: I had almost forgotten about this...it's something I posted back in February....The Change Man Cometh

I went to an Obama rally. Every person with a "change" sign got the following statement. "How much change do you need? I have change for a fifty, a twenty, a ten and that's it." They looked afraid of me in my black ski mask and backed away!

Well put Ridge...No need for me to even comment further.

Actually, I will.

If Obama is elected and he has a Democrat Majority House and Senate we will see vast amounts of change! Now understand, that does not mean "change" from what the Democrats have been trying to do for the last 30 years, but it means change from nothing being able to hold them back. We will drift closer and closer to International Law, our Courts will all resemble the 9th Circuit and the Socialism will run rampant.

Will the Dems change? No. Will the country change? Probobly alot.

Obama has run a campaign based on broad calls for change, which is a smart strategy given that people are anxious for it. Obama's strategy is to give few specifics and speak in soaring language. Doing this will offend a minimal amount of people while appealing to the public's imagination. Will it work? It just might, Obama has proven himself to be formidable, if at times thin skinned, especially when approached with criticism.

After 8 years of catastrophic incompetence and record low levels of presidential approval rates, my sense is that hammering a message of "change" is not a bad idea.

Isn't the republican party promising change as well? How does THAT work?
