I know he says he wouldn't continue Bush's policies, but in reality we all know the truth. He sided with him on nearly every issue that's been voted on. That tells me there would be no change. It's just all talk.

A picture is worth how many words?
The corporate media has portrayed McBush as a 'maverick', but his record shows he's a typical big business loving, worker hating Republican. He may even be more beholden to the military industrial complex than either of his opponents.

I can't believe that you still think that. Check the voting records! Seriously, you cannot believe that Bushs' policies are of his own doing. Things need to be voted on ~ and my friends, who is in power? The Democrats!! They run the Senate. And what has happened to the "vote for me and we will bring our troops home" ~ Democrats carry the majority vote and can easily "bring those troops home", but THEY keep putting off the vote. What are we? Sheep? And we all know what happens then...sheep to the slaughter.

*gasp* Can anyone make a case that 100% of Bush policies are bad?
irishgit 08/26/2008
Some certainly. Others unlikely.
And I would write exactly the same thing for a similar item on Obama.
Neither of these represents real, substantial change, despite whatever mantras they chant. They are different versions of business as usual.

McCain is so tied in with big business it's not even funny. More than half of Bush's political strategy team already works for McCain. Do you really think that McCain is going to do anything at all with healthcare, the economy, or the energy crisis? Of course he is not going to do anything if he gets elected, other than scare us with cries of 'fight the terrorists' and 'dig for oil is our only hope' mantras. You know that's what is going to happen. For God's sake vote for Obama.

Can someone remind me which party these two belong to?

Obama has a terrific ad using Sam Cooke's classic song. It's getting a lot of news play.

Most Americans agree... Bush's policies have been an utter failure for the United States. They're the reason that the U.S. dollar is worth less than the Canadian dollar, for example. People won't elect more of the same in November, which is why prominent right-wing nutjobs like Michelle Malkin are already moving away from the Republicans.

Because...? He will continue what is good for America and discontinue what is bad. If Bush did something good, it makes sense to continue. And if he did something bad, it makes sense not to continue. Where is the problem?

Fortunately, I don't think McCain, (or anybody) is that stupid.
magellan 05/19/2008
I think this is the wisest Dem talking point. Almost everybody recognizes the terrible job President Bush has done, and the more the Dems can link McCain with Bush, the better their chances in November.I don't think it's true, however. McCain has broken with Bush on all kinds of issues - torture, tax cuts without corresponding cuts in spending, pork, federalism, gay marriage, trade, etc. To lump him together with Bush is not accurate. It doesn't mean it's not good strategy though.
