People can and will debate the US entry into Iraq for at least another generation. Whether we should have invaded Iraq and removed Saddam or not, the fact is simple- we are there. The question is, where do we go from here? The suggestion that US forces have made the Iraqi people worse off is nonsensical. The suggestion that we are persecuting them there is an outright lie. McCain’s plan? As simple and or complicated as was Lincoln’s in the American Civil War…as simple and or complicated as were the plans of Roosevelt and Truman in WW2. The plan for withdrawal is withdrawal once victory is achieved. In this case, “victory” means that the Iraqis can handle things themselves and provide their own security. It means that their presence can thwart the idea of an attack from Syria, Iran, or both. Because McCain does not want to say **** it, then cut and run does not mean that he has no plan.

Nonsense. He has a stated plan. Whether it is workable remains to be seen, as does his ability and will to implement it if elected.

He has plans although they are not as quickly as I would like to see.

Actually he has stated that he plans to draw down troop levels over the next five years to the point that there will be an auxiliary force in Iraq that will assist the Iraqi army with operational matters. That is the realistic path out of Iraq. It is impossible from a tactical, operational, and political standpoint to pull out of Iraq within 6 months. Any politician who says otherwise is pandering to the public. Most everyone acknowledges that we need to pull out of Iraq, it is a question of how.
