Bell had been a productive pitcher with the Indians for about a decade, before moving to the Red Sox to become a key part of the Impossible Dream team of 1967. He had another decent year with the Sox in '68, then went totally off the track with the Pilots in '69. He went 2-6, and it was a bad 2-6 before getting shipped off to the White Sox late in the season. It was the last year of his career.
