I love many aspects of English culture- but even English that I've met have little tolerance for the out-of-control Anglophile who thinks that the sun still rises and sets on the British Empire. Indeed, this form of snobbery is found in expats (sometimes) who live in London for only five weeks and then try their darndest to pick up fake accents. This earns the ridicule from both here and from Londoners who know better. . .

While England no longer manufactures much of anything, it still produces the greatest snobs in the world. The true English snob (do not be fooled by cheap imitations) is rarely seen in England, where he hides out either on his country estate, or in exclusive London clubs, brothels, cabinet ministries and corporate offices. He is more easily spotted in the US-hailing cabs in NYC, or in his larval stage at various Ivy League colleges.

Perhaps the most exquisite of the breed, with long pedigrees and fine training to bring out the very best snobbery in them. Can be brilliantly, icily and subtly polite in their snobbery, but are no less cutting.
