It doesn't make any difference in what state you live. From a purely economic and practical analysis, your vote does not count. Does anyone on this site remember an election that was decided by YOUR vote? Again looking at it from an economics viewpoint, you have to take off work or drive out of your way, stand in line, put up with a bunch of b.s. and then cast your ballot. The result? It wouldn't have made a bit of difference if you voted or not.

If you were the only person voting, then of course, it would make a difference. Unfortunatley, you aren't the sole voter. No policies were changed; no directions were shifted; no attention grabbed; no anything else because you did or did not vote. You get no economic, political or any other kind of benefit from your act of voting.

To answer the argument, "what if everyone thought that way?" Well, relax, they don't. So again, your vote does not count.

Now before you all get the vapors over this comment, remember, I am making it from a purely economics viewpoint and not from partriotism, or duty or some other motive.

every person should consider their vote important. it is your say. when you think that from the early 1900's and before that only white men could vote. there has been an awful lot of fighting so we could all vote. we should consider our votes just as important as anyone else's.

WRONG!!! Your vote will always count!! Firstly you have the right to vote for a reason - DEMOCRACY. Secondly Men and Women fought sweat, tears and blood for you to be able to vote!! Thirdly If you don't vote then I don't ever want to see you ever complain about the government in power! (as you have no right to comment!) I still vote in my homeland, even though I no longer live there!!! Please your vote is important regardless of were you live!!!! If I could, I would!!!! (regardless of my state.)

And if enough people think like you, the state will either turn into a swing state, or forever remain in one column or the other.

Take a look at the historical voting tendencies of states, back to 1900. You'll find some surprising shifts over time.

Without a doubt, the be-bop states and the progressive free-form jazz improvisation states are going to be the real battlegrounds this fall.

A lot of people feel this way here in California, which is probably going to vote democratic unless Reagan is running again.
