Oh, yeah...no question about it. I'm not quite ready to board the ice berg but I've entered that phase...at least so says AARP. Funny thing I've discovered along the way; even as the outside crumbles the inside really doesn't alter all that much. And, I've known people who seemed old in high school and youngsters of 70+ so, as trite as it sounds, it's really what you make it.

I am now in my mid-thirties. Considering that to a senior citizen I would be a wet-behind-the-ears whippersnapper, but many youths would believe me to be a "geezer", that would be, in some circles, "middle-aged". No, I don't believe I'm old, but nobody gets any younger. It's funny how many people at one time didn't think they were going to get "old" (whatever they felt was "old"), and when they're finally there, they have a change of heart. It also strikes me how a person can think 40's is "old" (I'm not far behind), but when someone passes away at 60, it's considered young. About 100 or so years ago, when someone lived to be 60 it was a miracle. I'll never understand it, but people are going to think what they're going to think.

I amjust past the 50. mark, and for the most part I do not feel so old.It is more like naw, I cannot be this age..that seemed so old years ago.feel pretty good usually. but then got to admit there are days I am reminded I am not that young either. cannot complain too much. although I am sure I am old to those who are still so young.

A lot of people have different ideas of what they think is old. I'm 45, and don't necessarily think I'm old, although there are some times when I'm made to feel that way. I do feel that when a person reaches a certain age, I'll say 30, that there should be no barrier on friendship as far as age goes. I think an adult is an adult, and should be able to socialize with all ages of adults. Although I do, and have had, friends my own age, most of my friends have been quite a bit older than me, even when I was a kid. I just found them easier to talk to.

I'm 58 and 360/365ths, but after that last Mack Truck tagged me a month or so ago, I'm feeling old for the first time in my life. Doctors told me that my sense of humor will be the last thing to go...But I still have my jet-black hair!***I recall a great line from "Catch 22", where Yossarian tells his lover about a guy that died. He was 24. The girl acknowledges his death and Yossarian follows with "He was old." The lady replies, "But he was only 24, you said!"Yossarian replies, "yah, but he's dead. You can't get any older than that..."

In general, no. I'm 27, I still have all my hair, and none of it's gray (although I have friends of about the same age who can't say the same). I am still young, and feel that way most of the time. But I can't give this 1 star, because there are still times when I do feel old. I went for my first decently long bike ride of the spring last weekend (~7 miles), and that made me feel old. When I play pick up basketball games down at the fieldhouse and I'm huffing and puffing up and down the court while a bunch of 19 year olds fly past me, I feel old. When I talk to a little kid and find out what the most popular cartoons or toys are, I feel ancient.

The year 2046." Back in my day, if a feller liked or didn't like something, he simply went on line and wrote a few sentences and another feller would indicate that he agreed, disagreed, thought it was funny, or thought it might be of some use to his fellow man, and so on and on. We didn't have any of this newfangled warp space drive ,enter another dimension bunk. Gets me so angersome sometimes that I made up m'own word fer the frustration of it, "Crabnibbity." Them was the days.

A few girls claim I am, even tho I'm only 31 yrs YOUNG lol. What do we consider old now days? lol
scarletfeather 06/27/2008
Yes, I'm old. This wasn't part of the deal: that I would age a day over the age of 24. But it happened.
harlock 06/27/2008
Well, if you ask it to a two years old boy.... 32 years are so much age, but I hope to became older and older every year for a long, long time.

I'm sneakin' up on 70, but I'm still jumpin'. Could be because I ride 25 to 30 miles a week on my bicycle, swim a lot, don't smoke, and don't eat red meat or processed foods?

I have my moments. It really hits you when you find you can no longer do some of the things that you once took for granted. When I was younger I would jump from the roof of the house. I was doing this well into my middle adult years. It was faster and easier than using the ladder. Last summer I had to climb on the roof of my house to repair a few damaged shingles. I used a extension ladder to get up. When it was time to get down I realized that there was no way in hell I was going to jump. To make matters worse, I couldn't even use the ladder. I was stuck on the roof. I was home alone. Every time I tried to use the ladder I was overcome with fear. This had never happened to me before. I sat up there until I saw a neighbor lady come out of her house. I called her over to hold the ladder steady for me. I finally made it down. It was humiliating, but worse, for the first time I felt old. Now that a little time has passed I don't feel quite so old, but I have my days.

numbah is gonna be 30 in August. That's ANCIENT to most of the kids tooling around the internet. Still, the best reaction was from my six year old nephew:
"Wow, Uncle Mike, you're REALLY old..."
Aren't kids wonderful?
irishgit 05/23/2008
So my teenagers tell me when they're pissed at me. I beg to differ...
