I think I've proven time and again that high levels of snobery don't pay here. You gotta be in touch with the people, kids...

I've been told I'm a musical snob. Doesn't bother me. I have impeccable bad taste!

Hey, we have Snob Snobs who believe their brand of snobbery is better than other peoples snobbery.

RIA has it share of snobs. I try not to be one but I'm sure at times I may appear that way to some.

I think that RIA still has its share of snobs. We have Grizz Chewers who poo poo Skoal. We have skate boarders who think that their "pop" is better than other skate boarders' "pops". We have coffee snobs and single malt snobs. We have EVH and Billy Joel snobs. We have anti-WalMart snobs (my kind of snob).

We have religious snobs who rate others' beliefs and religions lower than their own...

No...we're not lacking in snobs...

I'm not sure what these are, although I've been accused of being one from time to time.   To some, apparently being able to spell and having a passing aquaintance with the rules of English equates with snobbery. (which are the grounds I've been accused of snobbery, not for being sardonic jerk, which would be eminently fair)

I'd say the reviewer who probably came closest to the definition of RIA snob was the long departed Pbeavr, who viewed himself as the conscience and guardian of the site.  He did a lot of useful stuff, but he could be damn annoying about it too.

There have been a few attempts since at this, but they have all dwindled away, usually because the reviewers who attempted it were unequal to the task they set themselves.

These are hilarious- I guess it's all how one chooses to define it. Some may think I'm one, or another reviewer you know is...

Anyway, we could talk about this for weeks, but one my favorite of the many subspecies of RIA snob are the kind who are conservative oldtimers who  say things "This used to be a very conservative website and now it's going to the dogs."

 I don't know if they realize how much they sound like the old guys in movies like Death Wish 3 or Defiance, old guys who live in one of those neighborhoods terrorized by multicultural thugs and hoodlums with green mohawks and what not... Who say "This used to be a good neighborhood!" too

There used to be quite a few of these, but as the site has changed they've practically disappeared.  These were some of the best contributors to the site, though their habit of badgering Magellan about weblists, 'bad' contributors, design changes, etc... could be annoying.  RIA is less of a club now, more of a forum/group blog, and the age of the RIA Snob looks pretty much over (they all seem to have left the site in a huff over the last couple years).
