Most of his claims have been thoroughly discredited-- according to Kuklinski, he participated in the Paul Castellano hit, the Carmine Galante hit, the Roy DeMeo hit, the Jimmy Hoffa hit, the Abraham Lincoln assassination (just kidding; he didn't claim credit for that one, but only because he wasn't alive at the time). Were I a bona-fide member of the "Mafia", I'd probably be offended; if you believe Kuklinski, Italian-American organized crime members were incapable of performing their own dirty work and needed his services for practicly every "job" they wanted done, which is of course absurd. One activity organized crime in NJ/NY has proven itself eminently capable of performing is that of eliminating people; the idea that they would need to solicit the "services" of this self-aggrandizing, unstable Pole from Jersey City to handle such things for them is laughable. There are 2 books out on Kuklinski that I know about. The biography by Anthony Bruno is worth reading; Bruno is a responsible chronicler of Kuklinski's criminal career. Another biography by Philip Carlo borders on being a hagiography; Carlo is completely credulous--- he accepts even the most preposterous claims by Kuklinski at face value.

A self aggrandizing sociopath, who likely never got close to the number of hits he claimed. I tried to read one "biography" of him and chucked it a third of the way through. Most of the claims are bereft of elementary internal logic, let alone be able to stand up to legitimate scrutiny.
While I don't doubt the guy killed people, he's like the kind of mopes that used to be around before the advent of the Baseball Encyclopedia. Old men who claimed they played a few seasons in the bigs in their youths, confident that no one could check.

Set on the breaking the record for most contract hits, Kuklinski would take credit for jobs he never carried out. This son of Satan will stay near the top of this list.

While I'd hardly catagorize Kuklinski as a "bad seed" like Ted Bundy and he didn't appear to be a sexual sadist, he did represent a peculiar amorality. He was incapable of feeling guilt, remorse or empathy. In fact, the only feeling he felt (and tried to hide) was the rage toward noted forensic psychiatrist, Park Dietz, when challenged over some inaccurately answered questions.
Kuklinski is a kind of sociopath that was borne out of his environment. His father helped to create and encourage the killing of his son's conscience. By the time, he reached puberty his moral compass was obliterated and his soul was lost.
