The money will come from Rogers Communications, a Toronto-based company that is part of a group that made a with the Bills to move some games to the city.
The real story here is that the Toronto group is using the eight-game series to show the city can support its own NFL franchise. The Bills want to generate additional revenues by expanding their market to Canada's largest city and financial capital, a 90-minute drive from Buffalo. There is widespread speculation that the real agenda may be a relocation of the Bills to Toronto.
This has become something of an issue with Canadian sports fans, particularly those of the Canadian Football League, who fear that an NFL franchise in Toronto would spell the death of the CFL.
Historically relations between the CFL and NFL have been excellent, but the awarding of a Toronto NFL franchise would likely sour that.
The issue has gained currency outside the sports world in Canada as well, with several high profile politicians from a wide ideological spectrum coming out in opposition to the idea.
