Squeak 01/30/2001
I own a Kelty external frame pack; it is actually the Pacific Crest design. It's a good pack sturcturally but the cloth material is weak. After taking it out for one ten day trip, three small holes had developed in one of the outside pockets. Otherwise, a good comfortable pack that squeaks a little bit on the frame.

I wore this on a week long trip in the Appalachians. It didn't have enough padding for my hips. It had enough space for my stuff though.

I have had this same backpack for a long time and it is surprisingly comfortable. It is very good because it is extremely spacious. It takes a little while to get used to, though.

This Kelty backpack comes from one of the most well known backpack manufacturers. It is durable, well made and fits well to the contours of the back. However, I do not recommend purchasing a backpack without first trying it on as each person is different and each backpack fits differently. This backpack is not for everyone, it may rub or be uncomfortable depending on size of the person.

I took this on a 2 week hike. By the end of the first week I was wishing I had an internal frame. It was a comfortable pack, but just didn't feel right on my back. The external frame was too cumbersome when climbing on rocks or bush wacking.

I am a backpacker and Kelty is the best out there. When I was looking for a pack I tried almost everything but found Kelty to be superior to all other brands. The size of the pack really works for me --not too big and not too small.

The standard for external frames. Large storage and a sturdy frame make this a long range pack for hot weather.
